Why should I be baptized?
Baptism is an important step of faith in the life of a follower of Christ. It is the way for a believer to publicly identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Rom 6:3-4) It was modeled by Jesus himself (Matt 3:13-17). He taught that we should be baptized as a public statement of our faith (Matt 28:19).
Why do you baptize by immersion?
Every example of baptism in the Bible took place by immersing a person momentarily under water and bringing them back out again. (Matt 3:13; Acts 8:38; Acts 16:33 and many more) The word used in the Bible for baptism literally means to “immerse or dip under.”
Who should be baptized?
Anyone who has expressed faith in Jesus Christ, placing his or her trust in him for salvation, should be baptized. We encourage people not to delay but to be baptized as soon as they have believed (Acts 2:41).
What about infants and children?
At LifeBridge we believe that baptism is a step of faith for those old enough to make a conscious decision to trust in Christ. This aligns with our understanding of New Testament teaching. To help parents and children with this decision we offer a class called Jump Start. This class is designed to help families discuss faith in Christ and the meaning of baptism.
